Just One More Hour... - 1031 Words
Its 4:00 a.m. and you’re walking to the refrigerator for another Mountain Dew to help you stay awake. With the mountain dew in your hand, you proceed back to your computer desk, to continue playing World of Warcraft for a few more hours because you have a late start day at work. It’s now 7:30, and your alarm is going off to wake you for work. The noise startles you and jolts you back into reality. Realizing what’s going on, you decide to call in into work and take a vacation day because you’re so close to completing that achievement you have been working on all night. â€Å"That’s the third one this month†your boss tells you. You make up some lie and tell him you have to get going. Back to the game, when you get there you tell yourself, â€Å"Just†¦show more content†¦Murders, suicide, lose of employment, detachment from reality, and relationship failures are just a few repercussions of an online video game addict. But ultimately, like any other addiction, it’s the addict’s willpower and self-preservation that keep them alive or from committing a crime. Online video game addictions may not be as wide spread or have the numbers of other addictions, but it continues to grow and rear its ugly head to the general public.
